Position Title: Waking Night Residential Support Worker
Location: Levenshulme
Reports To: Residential Home Manager
Contract Type: [Full-Time/Part-Time]
Hours: 10pm to 10 am
Salary: £12.50 to £15 per hour
Job Overview:
As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker at our Children’s Home, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and emotional support of children and young people during the night shift. You will work closely with the team to provide a secure, stable environment, assisting in the development and care of the children in our care. Your role will involve monitoring the children overnight, providing emotional support when necessary, and maintaining the home’s safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring and Supervision: Ensure that all children are safe and well throughout the night, providing supervision and support as required.
Emotional Support: Offer comfort and guidance to children who may experience difficulties during the night, including supporting them with emotional distress, fears, or anxieties.
Promoting Well-Being: Help children with bedtime routines and ensure their comfort and security during the night. Provide assistance if needed, whether for physical or emotional needs.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of children’s behavior, incidents, and progress during the night shift. Complete daily logs and report any concerns to the senior staff.
Health and Safety: Follow health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of the children, including responding to any emergencies, administering first aid if necessary, and ensuring the house is secure and safe.
Team Collaboration: Work with other staff members and contribute to a positive, supportive working environment. Attend handovers and share relevant information with day staff.
Child-Centered Approach: Support the children in developing life skills, making decisions, and growing emotionally and socially in a safe and nurturing environment.
Requirements:
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people in a residential care setting is desirable.
Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is preferred, or a commitment to complete the qualification.
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behavior.
Values: Passionate about working with children and young people, demonstrating empathy, patience, and resilience.
Flexible: Ability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays as required.
Training: A willingness to undertake relevant training, including safeguarding, first aid, and behavior management techniques.
