Description

New Chapters is a family-run service that offers vulnerable adults the opportunity to live independently but in a supported environment.
The people we support may have autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, epilepsy, mental health concerns and complex needs, and we are seeking dedicated and caring support workers to assist them with daily living.
If you want to make a difference working within a caring, close-knit team and receive competitive pay and benefits, we could be for you.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Responsibilities include:

  • Encouraging the people we support to participate in their chosen activity or follow their interests, which will involve assisting them in the community.
  • Co-ordinating scheduled activities for the people we support, using personalised rotas, liaising with others and ensuring facilitated activities and appointments are attended.
  • Assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming, while respecting dignity and privacy, and/or supporting or prompting service users to undertake their personal care (as appropriate).
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies when necessary.

The people we support may display challenging behaviour so the ability to remain calm and level-headed in all situations would be advantageous.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience as a support worker in a care setting, as well as a strong desire to work with people who have mental health concerns, learning disabilities and/or display challenging behaviour.
  • The ability to remain calm, empathetic and level-headed in all situations is essential, particularly if faced with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, as you will be supporting people who use various methods of communication.
  • Good basic comprehension of the English language, literacy and numerical skills.
  • Ongoing commitment to your own personal development and training.
Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor visas, so we can only progress your application if you have the authority to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
