WE ARE SEEKING EXPERIENCED BUDDIES / YOUTH WORKERS / SUPPORT WORKERS TO WORK WITH A TEENAGE BOY IN HIS FAMILY HOME AND IN THE COMMUNITY. THERE IS A CHOICE OF SHIFTS EACH WEEK, WITH FLEXIBILITY FOR ADDITIONAL HOURS.

We have a rewarding opportunity for experienced Support Workers/Buddies/Youth Workers to join this small care team providing support and activities to a delightful, fun, good natured boy in his early teens. We are seeking someone with common sense and practical skills (laundry, cooking, driving) and the ability to coax an occasionally reluctant teenager! The role would also suit a trainee nurse or OT/Physio, youth worker or personal trainer.

YOU WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A HIGH QUALITY OF SUPPORT. YOU SHOULD:

  • be physically fit to support our client’s mobility and to enable him to participate in his various activities such as swimming and cycling
  • enjoy supporting others and be considerate, good-natured with a genuine interest in his holistic development
  • have a willingness to be involved in all aspects of his life, including play and communication
  • have experience of working with children or young people
  • have some understanding of technology eg Alexa and Xbox in order to take part in and discuss his love of video games
  • be able to play sports with him, carry school bags and transfer a wheelchair from his vehicle (with hoist)
  • be willing to complete some household tasks in quieter times with our client
  • most importantly, you will support the whole family to enhance their quality of life
  • have a driving licence plus a vehicle with business car insurance. Mileage for the use of your vehicle with our client will be reimbursed.
    The family have a van, which you may be required to drive on occasion.
