JOB OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Children in Care Support Worker (16-17 years) to join our team. The ideal candidate will play an essential role in providing support, care, and guidance to children and young people in care. This role requires a strong commitment to enhancing the well-being and development of those in your care, while ensuring their safety and promoting a nurturing, supportive environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Previous experience in working with children in care, social work, or childcare setting is preferred.
· Experience in implement safeguarding practices and understanding of looked after children regulations.
· A valid driving license is beneficial, especially for transportation and attending appointments.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children and their families.
· Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
· A compassionate, empathetic approach towards working with children and young people in care.
· Relevant qualifications in childcare, social work, or youth work would be beneficial but are not mandatory.

· Provide emotional, physical, and practical support to children and young people in care, helping with daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
· Offer guidance and support in managing challenging behaviours, using appropriate strategies to promote positive behaviour and well-being.
· Create a safe and supportive environment by actively engaging with children and young people, fostering healthy relationships and promoting social skills.
· Assist in planning and supporting educational activities, after-school programs, and recreational outings.
· Support young people with appointments, school meetings, and social activities, ensuring they have the appropriate resources and transport when needed.
· Work closely with social workers, healthcare professionals, and other support staff to ensure individual care plans and interventions are followed.
· Maintain accurate records of interactions, behaviour, and progress, and promptly report any concerns or changes in the child’s well-being.
· Administer first aid if necessary, ensuring the safety and security of children at all times.
· Provide respite care when required and assist in the transition of children back to their families or permanent placements.
