We are seeking to recruit an experienced Supported Accommodation Youth and Family Worker (within The Salvation Army, this position is called Assistant Support Worker) to join our existing team. George Williams House is an accommodation unit for 15 households.
The role of Assistant Support Worker is an inspirational one and key to achieving outcomes for vulnerable clients. As a motivated and dynamic Assistant Support Worker you will be responsible for working closely with our young people and families, developing, and delivering a programme of high-quality programme of activities which promotes clients’ choice and control.
Your role will entail planning and delivering daily activities, accessing resources and advertising activities via a monthly calendar for residents and staff. You will also be responsible for writing monthly newsletters and holding monthly resident meetings. Furthermore, you will be proactive in establishing good working relationships with partner agencies, being available to take residents out in the community to groups and appointments.
Our aim is to support young people and families by providing a settled period of accommodation during which time staff can help them to develop their capacity, self-esteem and life skills to enable them to live independently in the community.
We are an Ofsted Registered Service, as part of ‘The Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023’. This introduces national standards, inspection arrangements for providers of supported accommodation for looked after children and care leavers aged 16 and 17. The four standards are Support, Protection, Leadership & Management and Accommodation.
