Description

UNACCOMPANIED ASYLUM SEEKING CHILDREN

Stepping Stone Projects is an established and growing charity providing quality homes and services to help prevent homelessness and transform lives across the North West.
Our support services are aimed at helping our customers develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to maintain a stable home and a structured lifestyle before assisting them in the process of securing or retaining permanent independent accommodation.
We are looking Day-time Shift Support Workers to join us supporting 16-18 year old Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) in the new ‘Welcome Hub’ for new arrivals to the country and will be a key part of Manchester Councils strategy over the next 5 years.
The role will be part of a team providing 24/7 support to customers based on site.
You will work on a shift basis, hours will be an average of 40.25 per week worked between 8 am - 8 pm.
You will have a case load of customers and will provide regular key working sessions as well as ensuring the security and safety of the customers and the building. Additionally, support will be provided to all nine customers within the project on an emergency/crisis and or ad hoc basis as and when the need occurs.
The Building will be a hub for the wider UASC service and local team and as such there will be contact and support, usually via the telephone on an ad hoc/emergency basis to the wider UASC dispersed customers accommodated in the wider Manchester community.

We would love to hear from you if:

  • You are able to overcome obstacles and deliver results through tenacity, persistence and resilience
  • You have experience working in supported housing, housing advice work, youth and community work or work supporting homeless people
  • You have the ability to work with customers who have complex needs and who may be challenging to work with, and to respond to conflict situations in a calm yet firm manner
  • You are able to maintain accurate records
  • You have a basic knowledge of housing management tasks, i.e. rent collection, tenancy agreements and arrears management

Please note the successful candidate will be required to hold, or be prepared to undertake and attain the Children & Young Persons Workforce Level 3 qualification within 24 months of taking up the post.
