This includes providing Albertans with the health, personal care and accommodation services they need to support their health and independence. The Senior Policy Advisor reports to the Manager of Strategic Policy and Planning in the Continuing Care Branch. Role Responsibilities Leading a professional team, the manager is responsible for operational matters pertaining to the regulatory monitoring and enforcement of compliance in licenced accommodations. You will demonstrate systems thinking as you will need to work with multiple stakeholders (internal and external) and programs, while understanding how they are impacted by standards and assessments. You will also develop networks as building a strong relationship is critical to ensure collaboration and best practices are met.You will demonstrate creative problem solving while collaborating with staff, stakeholders and ALA to breakdown and work through assessments, solutions and develop a workable plan to achieve outcomes. You will also demonstrate agility to quickly shift in a fast-paced environment, while responding to emerging issues.Developing relationships within the group is critical to your success. The scope of work can be stressful based on issues that need to be addressed. Keeping team members motivated and supported is critical to their success and resilience, thus building collaborative environments.Working within a provincial scope as a Support Living Manager , you will be responsible for building relationships and linkages with other parts of the branch, division, ministry, other government departments, residents and/or their representatives of Type A (formerly long-term care), Type B (formerly designated supportive living), and Supportive Living accommodations, You will provide support, direction, training, consultation and leadership to a team of licensing inspectors to ensure that activities (such as inspections, follow-ups to reportable/critical incidents and preparing risk assessments) are completed in accordance with accepted practices and within guidelines prescribed by department policy, procedures and legislation are complied with.You will also represent the Ministry as lead in joint projects, working groups and partnerships with other government partners and community organizations to evaluate and collaborate on issues related to quality in continuing care; and development of legislation, regulation and standards.As a Support Living Manager, you will cover the role and responsibilities of the Director, in times of absence.Please click on this link to view the job description for this position.APS Competencies Competencies are behaviors that are essential to reach our goals in serving Albertans. Qualifications Minimum Recruitment Standards University graduation in a related field, supplemented by four years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis. Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered based on: Related university degree and 4 years related experience. Related Diploma and 6 years related experience. Related certificate and 7 years related experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a university graduation in the field of health. Current registration with the appropriate health professional college if required.Minimum 4 years’ experience in a supervisory or manager position is required.A valid driver's license as travel throughout the Province of Alberta is mandatory.Assets: Course completion for Foundations of Administrative Justice. National Certified Investigator and Inspector or completion of equivalent program. Completed leadership courses. Experience collaborating with various stakeholders are considered assets. Experience in a regulatory environment. Conducting inspections/reviews/surveys/investigations. Working with accreditation bodies, applicable acts, regulations and legislations.
