Description
Position Summary This role is to Prepare raw, preformed, and finished material for forging and finishing operations, utilizing but not limited to using manual and automated sand blasters, Pangborns, Belt Grinders, Hand Grinders, Buffing Wheels, CNC Equipment, Band Saws, Chop Saws, Trim Presses, Arbor Press, and Tumblers. Principle Responsibilities * Examines and feels surface of work piece for defects.  * Operates manual or automated sandblast/shot peen equipment to effectively achieve the required surface finish. * Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to the production floor traveler or Work Instruction and attaches to grinder.  * Starts abrasive equipment and moves it over surface of work piece to remove defects/non-conformities. * Polishes marred areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface.  * Ensures accurate process flow of products by following department procedures.  * Locates WIP through knowledge of the various production processes, and an ability to read production routing tags, etc.  * Maintains production levels at various workstations assuring an even flow of processing.  * Assists in the processing of all production operations when process dictates.  * Monitors and records all associated dimensions on the product to ensure conformance to all customer specifications.  * Identifies maintenance needs of equipment and reports to Team Leader.  * Performs preventative maintenance checks 'for applicable' equipment.  * Completes quality documents such as SPC charts, routers, and tags.  * Counts parts to ensure all products are accounted for going in and out of all operations.  * Checks router tags for completeness and verifying process.  * Maintains housekeeping and safety standards in work area.  * Additional duties as requested by management.  Qualification Requirements Credentials/Experience: * High School diploma or general education degree  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gages, and comparators.  * Knowledge of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing.  Other Requirements Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
