We are looking to strengthen our operational team with the appointment of an experienced Surfacing Manager.
As Surfacing Manager, you will take responsibility for the planning, coordination, and delivery of tar/asphalt surfacing operations. This hands-on role requires excellent technical knowledge, strong leadership, and the ability to manage people, plant, and performance in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in a similar surfacing management role within the asphalt/tar surfacing industry
  • Strong knowledge of road surfacing techniques, materials, plant, and equipment
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and specifications
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
  • Relevant industry qualifications (e.g. SSSTS/SMSTS, CSCS, NRSWA, etc.)
Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day surfacing operations, ensuring timely and safe delivery of projects
  • Plan resources including labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors
  • Liaise with clients, site teams, and other stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships
  • Ensure all works are carried out to company quality standards and in compliance with specifications
  • Monitor and manage costs, productivity, and programme delivery

Ensure health & safety procedures are followed at all times on site

  • Lead and supervise site teams, promoting a culture of safety and accountability
  • Conduct site inspections and audits, resolving any technical or operational issues
  • Report progress and project updates to senior management
