Description

Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level I trauma facility with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

SUMMARY

The Surgery Aide provides support to the operating room staff. Duties include knowledge of OR equipment, place work orders as needed, transporting of patients, housekeeping duties, ordering of supplies, stocking of supplies, transporting specimens, and assisting the anesthesia technicians.
Shift: 8HR Mid-shift
Hours: Mon-Fri 12:00PM-8:30PM

Responsibilities
  • Surgical shave preps, Maintains clean gurneys and patient beds, Delivers specimens to the lab.
  • Follows aseptic technique when performing assigned duties in the surgical suite
  • Participates in room turn over
  • Transports blood to the OR as assigned
  • Transports specimens to the lab as assigned
  • Transports patients to and from surgical services as assigned

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work with nursing staff, patients and families.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times).
