Description STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The Surgery Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and properly prepared environment throughout The Surgery Center. This role performs terminal cleaning of The Surgery Center at the end of each day and supports daily operations by ensuring surgical suites are thoroughly cleaned, stocked, and organized for procedures. The Surgery Attendant provides essential non-clinical support to the surgical team but does not perform the duties of a Surgical Technologist or Sterile Processing Technician. Part-time, benefitted position scheduled for 48 hours per two-week pay period. This role consists of two 12-hour shifts per week, working Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with no weekends or holidays required. JOB FUNCTIONS Terminally clean the OR, Surgery Center and Sterile Processing at the end of each day and after contaminated surgeries in accordance with established infection control and safety standards. Assist with quick and efficient turnover of the operating rooms between surgical cases. Clean all surfaces, including floors and equipment between cases. Clean and return equipment to storerooms after case completion. Remove unnecessary supplies from OR suites after case completion. Assist in the gathering of essential equipment and supplies for subsequent cases. Check for basic functionality of equipment and report malfunctions. Dispose of trash, linen and biohazard waste throughout the day. Restock linens, supplies, and other necessary items in the surgical area. Assist the OR team with non-clinical tasks to support efficient workflow. Maintain an organized and sanitary work environment in the surgical suites. Report any safety concerns to the department leads. Follow all hospital policies, safety guidelines, and infection prevention procedures. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION Preparation & Training - High school diploma or equivalent preferred. On the job training Work Experience - Some experience preferred but not required. Attendance - Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Required duties are such that concentrated attention must be applied on demand consistent with manual skill requirements in situations that may at times be stressful. Visual acuity necessary for reading charts and working with medical devices. Working Conditions - Work is performed in a hospital or surgical center operating room environment. Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting supplies or equipment. Will involve moving equipment as needed. Physical & Sensory Effort - Frequent standing or walking. Lifts, positions, and pushes equipment and supplies. Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Needs finger dexterity when handling specialized equipment/instruments. Requires standing for extended periods of time without relief. Background - A comprehensive background check will be conducted as a condition of employment for this role. Drug Screen - A urine drug screening is required for all positions and must be completed within 30 days of the date of hire. Promotion - No formal line of promotion.
