Surgery Center Administrator
Salary Range: $150,000 – $180,000 + Bonus (higher base considered for highly experienced candidates)
About the Facility
United Surgical Partners International (USPI), the nation’s largest Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) platform, is seeking an experienced Surgery Center Administrator to lead operations at BASS Surgery Center in Walnut Creek, CA.
This modern, multispecialty facility features 4 operating rooms and provides a broad range of surgical services, including:
- General Surgery
- Orthopedic Surgery
- Urology
- Colorectal Surgery
- Pain Management
- Hand Surgery
- Podiatric Surgery
- ENT Surgery
Position Summary
The Administrator is responsible for strategic, operational, financial, and clinical leadership of the facility. This includes oversight of staff, physicians, and services to ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, cost-effective surgical care. The Administrator serves as the key liaison between the Governing Board, Medical Staff, USPI corporate, and all departments.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Operations
- Direct day-to-day facility operations with a focus on patient safety, efficiency, and compliance.
- Serve as primary liaison with the Governing Board, Medical Staff, and USPI Home Office.
- Appoint and delegate leadership in Administrator’s absence.
- Lead Monthly Operations Review calls with USPI leadership.
- Ensure adherence to USPI’s EDGE™ operational processes and integration into QPI programs.
Business & Financial Management
- Develop and manage operating and capital budgets.
- Oversee purchasing, contracts, and vendor relations while leveraging group purchasing initiatives.
- Monitor financial performance, cash flow, and revenue cycle to optimize outcomes.
- Establish competitive, cost-based pricing for procedures.
- Lead sales/marketing initiatives and identify new service opportunities.
Personnel & Staff Development
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate management and staff performance.
- Hold regular staff meetings to communicate goals and priorities.
- Ensure employee productivity, fair practices, and policy adherence.
- Implement orientation, training, continuing education, and development programs.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional culture across teams.
Clinical & Quality Oversight
- Ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Supervise clinical departments (nursing, supply, medical records, housekeeping) and contracted services (lab, imaging, pharmacy, biomedical, etc.).
- Maintain functional surgical equipment and patient-care technology.
- Oversee infection control, safety programs, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a member of the Quality Improvement Committee.
Medical Staff Relations
- Manage credentialing and privileging of practitioners.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director and Medical Executive Committee on bylaws, rules, and clinical services.
- Build and maintain strong physician relationships and engagement.
- Ensure alignment of physician, staff, and patient needs.
Professional & Administrative Duties
- Represent the facility at corporate and community meetings.
- Stay current with healthcare policy, reimbursement trends, and regulatory changes.
- Promote the organization’s mission, vision, and values through leadership presence and professional conduct.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years in a senior administrative or management role within a large ASC.
- Proven ability to manage financial performance, operations, and compliance in a healthcare setting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Preferred:
- Nursing or Master’s degree in healthcare/business administration.
- Experience with USPI operations and/or hospital leadership with ASC exposure.
- Specialty or administrative certification.
Working Conditions
- Mobility required to supervise staff and activities throughout the facility.
- Office-based with frequent exposure to patient-care environments.

Pay: $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
