Description Main function Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, the Surgery Scheduler is responsible for organizing and maintaining the OR scheduling systems. Requirements Education / Licensure / Certification / Requirements Required: High school diploma or general equivalency degree (EGD) Two years minimum experience clerical medical office experience Proficient Computer skills Preferred: ASC scheduling experience Microsoft Office Specialist certifications Physical / Mental requirements Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, patients, physicians and the general public. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply concepts of accounting. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Computer Skills: Job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including database, spreadsheet, report writing, project management, graphics, word processing, presentation creation/editing, communicate by e-mail, use scheduling software and EMR software. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Special Requirements: Must be able to work variable hours and be flexible to meet the needs of the center’s daily surgery schedule.
