Description POSITION OVERVIEW The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for supporting the Provider and the patients by scheduling surgeries, tests and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Schedule surgeries, tests, and other procedures as well as tracking of test results. Prepare weekly schedule and assist Provider in daily flow. Work with Precertification Specialist, to ensure precertification’s are done in timely manner. Enroll patients in computer system as needed or appropriate in a timely manner. Support patients in person and over the phone in a professional and courteous manner. Communicate physician schedule changes and other necessary updates to Operations Manager and others appropriately. Support Provider with phone calls, mail and other correspondence. Complete and mail FMLA paperwork for patients. Avoid and/or resolve errors which may lead to undo write-offs or insurance rejections. Recognize and appropriately report problems or negative patterns. Provide backup scheduling coverage and other office responsibilities as a member of the Surgery Scheduling Team. Schedule doctor’s meetings at the various hospitals. Handle other duties and special projects as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience Minimum 2-years’ experience in healthcare, medical office or hospital setting (preferred) Knowledge & Skills Previous experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software required. Attention to detail, timeliness and strong organization skills required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Intermediate computer skills. Ability to communicate and articulate complex information simply.
