Job Summary: Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic - West Dodge Medical Plaza Address: 515 N 162nd Ave - Omaha, NE Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm Schedules patient appointments, and all surgical, and diagnostic procedures. Provides patient instruction regarding all procedures. Ensures efficient, and patient friendly workflow to help provide quality care. Updates patient demographic, and insurance information. Responsibilities: Essential Job Functions Schedules cases and pre-registers patients interacting closely with surgeons, surgeon's office staff, anesthesia and pre-surgery nurses. Schedules cases correctly and coordinates according to scheduling guidelines. Follows up with physician and/or physician office staff with scheduling conflicts, issues, concerns. Ensures necessary equipment, lab, and devices are reserved for each individual patients surgery. Completes appropriate order sets to include patient consent for surgical procedure. Schedules surgical cases in accordance with surgical services scheduling guidelines and policy. Follows scheduling guidelines when scheduling cases with attention to block schedule parameters. Calculates necessary room time by using physician case time data and turnover time standards. Enters appropriate scheduling information into physician's calendar. Provides accurate diagnosis codes and procedure codes for scheduled procedure. Provides patient and family with educational materials to ensure adequate knowledge and understanding of scheduled procedure. Requests and sets up access to EMMI for patients to view video for thyroid and parathyroid surgeries. Informs patient and family of all surgery information including details of where and when to report for surgical procedure. Serves as liaison between physicians, physician's office staff, and hospital by coordinating surgical services scheduling for patient/customer satisfaction. Reviews schedules in advance and revises as necessary to prevent error and reduce risk. Communicates with appropriate parties to make schedule adjustments to ensure efficiency and prevent any unforeseen circumstance that may occur. Coordinates multi-surgeon cases. Demonstrates ability to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs. Is familiar with scheduling software and performs skills competently and independently. Checks for appropriate resource scheduling. Reviews and prepares surgery schedule on a daily basis. Reports issues/concerns as necessary. Maintains competence in required skill sets. Enters patient surgical procedure into the electronic medical record. Assures positive customer relations are maintained with hospital personnel, patients, visitors and physicians. Performs telephone triage to determine patient needs by documenting patient's needs to appropriate staff and advising patient on appropriate instructions. On a daily basis promotes positive work environment and teamwork. Builds collegian relationships with other peers across the Surgical Services. Maintains professional appearance, behavior and work environment. Returns scheduling calls promptly and courteously. Maintains teamwork, positive mentoring, willingly assists with training of employees by positively assisting with the implementation of new procedures and job functions to enhance Access Center services. Is responsible for maintaining department productivity measures and being actively engaged in the day to day process. Schedule: Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm Job Description: Job Requirements Education High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required. Post-secondary education/training in healthcare, or business operations preferred. Experience Minimum of 1-3 years in patient scheduling, insurance registration, or patient care delivery required. Prior Surgical Technologist or Medical Assistant experience preferred. License/Certifications American Heart Assocation Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
