Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Surgical Administrative Assistant supports the surgical team by coordinating patient care and administrative tasks before, during, and after procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain surgical charts and ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Enter and maintain patient and surgical information in the Chartered Surgical Facility Information System.
  • Conduct pre-operative confirmation calls with patients, providing clear instructions and addressing questions as needed.
  • Complete informed surgical consent documentation and assist in preparing patients for their procedures.
  • Support the recovery area by monitoring and documenting patients’ vital signs and assisting the anesthesiologist with patient preparation and recovery as required.
  • Perform general administrative duties and other related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a clinical or surgical setting preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience with HealthQuest EMR preferred
