Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: The nurse assistant provides care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, surgical patients under the supervision of the registered nurse. As a member of the surgical team, helps to provide a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. The surgical nurse aide assists in the implementation of the AORN Standards of Care, Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa and Operating Room Policies and Procedures. Position Purpose: As a member of the surgical team, the surgical aide supports a safe and secure environment for both patients and staff. Responsibilities include implementing AORN Standards of Care and following Mercy Medical Center–North Iowa Operating Room Policies and Procedures. Duties include cleaning operating rooms, assisting with patient positioning and transportation, and maintaining inventory of supplies. Schedule: This is a FT Days position, Shift may include: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (on-site training available if needed). Preferred Qualifications: One of the following is encouraged: Successful completion of a formal Nurse Aide training program (transcript or certificate required), OR Current enrollment in a Scrub Technologist program, OR Current enrollment in an ADN or BSN program with successful completion of the first semester (ADN) or first year (BSN), OR Graduate of an ADN, Diploma, BSN, or LPN program.
