Description Job Summary The Surgical Dental Assistant supports oral surgeons and dentists during surgical dental procedures by preparing patients, instruments, and the operatory, ensuring a sterile environment, and providing high-quality chairside assistance. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a calm, professional demeanor when working with patients undergoing surgical procedures. Key Responsibilities Assist the oral surgeon/dentist during surgical procedures such as extractions, implants, bone grafting, and periodontal surgery Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to infection control standards Set up and break down surgical operatories before and after procedures Prepare patients for surgery, including taking vitals, reviewing medical histories, and explaining post-operative instructions Maintain suction, retract tissues, and pass instruments during procedures Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as required Monitor patient comfort and safety during procedures Manage surgical materials, medications, and supplies Assist with post-operative care and patient education Maintain accurate patient records and documentation Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols at all times Requirements Requirements Must maintain certification and/or license renewals as required by the state. Must excel in forward thinking to anticipate the needs of the patient and our dental team. May be required to travel between office locations. Must be insurable by the company’s insurance. Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned by management. Must be CPR Certified
