Surgical Attendant - St. Francis Downtown Job Summary: The Perioperative Attendant is responsible for assisting the clinical staff by performing a variety of support functions that facilitate the delivery of surgical/procedural services to the patient working under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated health care professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization. Essential Functions: Performs daily set-up of the surgical suites and room turnover between cases, maintaining a clean and orderly work area throughout the OR. May terminally clean OR suites based upon department design. Assists with patient positioning, lifting and transfers. Performs sterile holds as needed. Restocks and maintains an adequate amount of supplies and linens needed for surgery and/or anesthesia daily use. May maintain oxygen tanks based upon department design. Reports shortage of supplies to supervisor. Sets up equipment and positioning devices as needed for surgery. Reports to supervisor any broken, defective, or missing equipment or positioning devices. Cleans and maintains proper storage of equipment and positioning devices. Transports patients to from multiple departments as needed. May obtain clean inpatient beds and stretcher based upon department design. Responds to a variety of requests including running errands to and from other departments, obtaining items as needed, etc. Performs patient POCT as needed. Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required) Required Licensing & Certifications: BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) Experience: One-year perioperative experience (preferred) Skills & Abilities: Hard/Tech/Clinical Skills: Monitor patient conditions during treatment Completes specific, routine task Requires basic reading, writing, or simple arithmetic skill May operate basic equipment/machinery Soft/Interpersonal Skills: Attention to detail Critical thinking Teamwork Conflict resolution Active listening Relationship building Ability to Follow Instructions Able to Work Independently Move with a sense of urgency Training: None Bon Secours is an equal opportunity employer.
