SKILLS

  • Excellent patient service skills with an aptitude to understand the patients’ conditions;
  • Strong computer and typing skills, highly skilled in Microsoft Office with previous EMR experience;
  • Exceptional organization skills with high attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Self-motivation to deliver high quality results and work within deadlines;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to demonstrate consistent initiative and a team attitude;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Previous experience as a surgical coordinator is a strong asset;
  • 1+ years of previous experience in an ophthalmic setting strongly preferred.

    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
    Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week

Responsibilities:

  • Discuss and review ophthalmic surgery options with patients as offered by the surgeon
  • Efficiently and accurately consent patients for surgical procedures as directed by the physician(s)
  • Communicate with patients regarding follow-up care, pre and post-operative care, testing, changes in appointment times etc.
  • Manages communication via email/phone & in person with patients and other healthcare professionals in a timely manner
  • Attentively coordinate and schedule the surgical slate for 1 to 3 ophthalmology surgeons
  • Meets with patient and dispenses surgery information. Explains treatment procedures, and physicians’ instructions to patients
  • Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism
