Are you a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse looking to make a difference in patients’ surgical experiences? St Mary’s Surgical Centre is seeking a dedicated Nurse to join our Outpatient Pre-Assessment and Day Surgery Ward.
In this vital position, you will assess, prepare, and support patients scheduled for outpatient procedures and day surgeries. Your role will ensure patients receive comprehensive preoperative care and education, helping them feel confident and cared for throughout their surgical journey.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough pre-assessments, reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and investigations
  • Educate patients and families on procedures, pre-op instructions, and post-op care
  • Coordinate day surgery schedules to optimize patient flow
  • Prepare patients physically and psychologically, ensuring informed consent
  • Monitor patients pre- and post-procedure, managing any complications promptly
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold infection control and safety standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver seamless care
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and quality improvement

WHAT WE’LL LOOK FOR IN YOUWhat We’re Looking For:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration
  • Experience in outpatient, pre-assessment, or day surgery settings preferred
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative procedures and patient safety
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and safety
