Job Summary: A radiologic technologist employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for the radiological direct and/or indirect care of the patient in the Operating Room, Endoscopy Units, and Perioperative Areas. This includes performing a variety of procedures with a vast array of x-ray producing equipment to surgical service lines, as well as occasionally second assisting in procedures. Education: Required: A graduate of an ARRT approved radiologic technology program. Reference: https://www.arrt.org/Education/ (compliant with all continuing education mandates). Preferred: AS Health Science in Radiologic Technology Experience: Required: Completion of on the job Competency Training Program within 6 months of hire. Preferred: 1 year clinical experience Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: ARRT certified and compliant with all continuing education mandates, or ARRT registry eligible- must complete within one year of hire. BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward. Preferred: N/A Department Position Summary: The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive radiology and technical support in the Operating Room, Endoscopy Unit and Perioperative areas appropriate to the age of the patient seen in the select areas assigned. This includes performing a variety of procedures with a vast array of x-ray producing equipment to surgical service lines, as well as occasionally second assisting. The employee must know and understand the concepts of sterile techniques, patient position, radiology safety as well as prioritize functions based on volume and activity. The employee must recognize emergent situations and act promptly and appropriately based on the patient's needs. The employee sets up equipment and room as needed for exams, and makes sure equipment is properly cleaned and stored after each exam. The employee effectively operates portable x-ray/fluoroscopy/c-arm/CT machines to produce quality images for Surgeons and Radiologists to analyze and print film as requested. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. This is done through evaluation of direct supervisor by direct observation, in a skills lab, or discussed verbally or written. Competency can also be evaluated by a formal peer review process and/or by self assessment based on objective criteria that is reviewed and validated.
