Description The Surgical Services Attendant (SSA) works under Registered Nurse supervision and in collaboration with Environmental Services to facilitate the safe and effective functioning of Surgical Services Department, maintaining safe and clean environment, extending support to ASU, PACU, and Anesthesia teams in facilitating work flow by providing patient care as directed by RN and with accepted CNA standards, in the State Specified Scope of Practice following Hospital policies and procedures. Additionally, SSA performs sterile processing duties under the direct supervision of RN or CST limited to cleaning, decontaminating and processing equipment to achieve high level disinfection. Requirements Education, Training or Certifications Required: CNA certification/eligibility required Experience Required: Previous experience in hospital setting preferred Special Requirements: Ability to function in surgical environment Cognitive Requirements: Ability to withstand emotional pressures associated within the medical setting Physical Demands: Ability to be on feet for most of shift Ability to lift, pull, push, stoop and reach Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. Adequate vision Environment: Must be able to work with employees, patients and visitors of the Hospital Will be exposed to hazardous waste and/or body fluids
Responsibilities
The Surgical Services Attendant works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to maintain a safe and clean environment in the Surgical Services Department. They also perform sterile processing duties and support various teams in patient care as directed.
