JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the OR Business Manager leads operational processes to achieve/exceed growth and financial targets and maximize operational synergies across the procedural areas. Primary responsibilities include collection, aggregation and reporting of throughput data. This position prepares and maintains departmental productivity reports and other routine operational reports. This position assists the Directors in rounding on employees and physicians to identify improvement initiatives. This position directly supervises the following positions: OR Analysts and OR Scheduler for St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and St. David’s Surgical Hospital.

  • You will facilitate achievement of St. David’s objectives by serving as a liaison between functional departments and affiliated service lines.
  • You will compile and maintain departmental statistical reports on a variety of items including daily volumes, departmental quality indicators, operational and throughput indicators. You will coordinate, prepare and distribute periodic departmental reports to staff and leaders.
  • You will collaborates with departmental leadership and clinical analysts to develop, implement and maintain a tracking system to monitor procedural and surgical scheduling patterns and volumes to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • You will assist the Director(s) in preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • You will coordinate and facilitate communications concerning physician and patient complaints.
  • You will serve as backup staff designee for scheduling staff.
  • You will demonstrate effective delegation of responsibilities to other team members, as appropriate.
  • You will demonstrate knowledge of guidelines, policies and safety requirements determined by all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • You will demonstrate effective guest relations with internal and external customers.
  • You will demonstrate knowledge of Meditech and general computer skills.
  • You will participate in quality assurance/improvement You will participate in department and hospital-wide performance/process improvement.
  • You will work as an effective member of the Surgical Services teams.
  • You will communicate effectively with staff, physicians, supervisors, patients, and visitors.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:

  • 3+ years experience in healthcare operations or related experience
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Bachelor’s Degree- Healthcare or related
    St. David’s Surgical Hospital, part of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, is a specialty hospital focused on surgery.
