Description PRN Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital. Summary of Responsibilities: Under the supervision of a surgeon, to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that the equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Requirements Education: Completion of an accredited surgical technology program with certification. A surgical technologist employed to practice surgical technology before September 1, 2009, would not be required to successfully complete an accredited educational program for surgical technologists and hold and maintain certification as a surgical technologist to be employed as a surgical technologist on or after September 1, 2009. Licenses/Certificates: Certification of Surgical Technology maintained through NBSTSA required or possess on the job training and experience as a Surgical Technologist prior to 09/01/2009 CPR/BLS certification Experience: Two (2) years experience as a Certified Surgical Tech working in the operating room environment is preferred.
