North Alabama Medical Center serves as a regional facility with more than 200 physicians on staff who represent more than 42 specialty areas of medicine. How you’ll contribute A Surgical Technician who excels in this role: * Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. * Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. * Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. * Passes instruments to physician during surgery. * Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery. * Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory. * Perform other duties as assigned. What we’re looking for Requires Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire. * Licenses: Surgical Technician Certification current & in good standing REQUIRED. * Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire * High School Diploma REQUIRED. Responsibilities

The Surgical Technician is responsible for preparing the surgical operating suite with all necessary drapes, instruments, and equipment, and ensuring all items are in good working order. They will also assist with patient preparation, pass instruments to the physician during surgery, and maintain an accurate count of all instruments and supplies.
