CST Responsibilities: * Scrubs and sets up instrumentation. * Maintains aseptic technique at all times. * Maintains awareness of safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damages or harm to personnel and patient. * Assists with and anticipates the needs of the surgeon for instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies. * Maintains correct count of sponges and needles with the circulating nurse and reports correctness and discrepancies. * Observes and protects the patient before, during, and after the procedure. * Covers call as policy dictates. * Flexibility in adjusting duty hours to meet needs of department. CST Education and Experience Requirements: * High School diploma required. * Completion of approved Operating Room Technician Program required. * Certification as Operating Room Technician required. CST Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Assists the surgeon as scrub technician according to established policies and standards. * Assists the circulating RN as necessary. * Assists in maintenance, care and cleanliness of supplies and surgical suite. * Covers call as assigned. * Maintains and increases standards of performance and education. Responsibilities
