Description

The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist functions primarily in the scrub role and is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. The Surgical Technologist possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique and is able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. The Surgical Technologist utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team. Our state-of-the-art hospital in Jacksonville includes 34 operating rooms that include an IMRI OR suite and a dedicated endovascular OR suite. We use the most modern equipment and advanced technology to create an environment that merges the art of healing with the science of medicine. Candidates may be considered for placement into either the Surgical Technologist or Advanced Surgical Technologist role based on years of experience, specialty training, and meeting the qualifications of the higher-level position. The Advanced Surgical Technologist expands on this foundation by supporting complex procedures, such as Cardiothoracic, Transplant, Neurosurgery, and Vascular and by contributing to protocol development, specialty instrumentation management, and workflow optimization for advanced surgical service lines. Required to provide coverage to other surgical services based on practice needs and competency outside of their primary service. *Qualified applicants must live within a reasonable driving distance to campus to meet 45-minute on-call requirement.
