Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Responsibilities Assist with the nursing care of patients preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of the department and hospital practice and policies. Responsible for the preparation, disbursement of surgical supplies, equipment, and instrumentation – pre, intra, and post-operatively. Demonstrate knowledge of principles of asepsis Demonstrate knowledge of the standards of AORN guidelines Assume responsibility for clinical competence and professional development Participate in the responsible management of all departmental resources Takes call as required by the department Qualifications Job Requirements: Graduated from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or Certified Surgical Technologist BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
