You’ll work alongside expert clinicians on a wide variety of cases, including general, plastics, orthopedics, and urology, gaining valuable experience with advanced surgical techniques and equipment. Responsibilities: Teach and mentor new employees and students in both technical skills and surgical theory. Prepare the OR by setting up instruments, equipment, sterile supplies, and ensuring everything functions properly. Assist in patient prep, including positioning, draping, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures. During surgery, efficiently pass instruments, handle retractors, cut sutures, manage sponges and counts, and ensure a safe, sterile field. Support surgeons across a variety of specialties with strong technical knowledge and attention to detail. Maintain and oversee specialty instruments, lasers, and supplies, coordinate repairs, orders, and equipment maintenance. Serve as a Lead Tech—supervising daily workflow, resolving issues, and guiding surgical team members. Manage specimens, apply dressings, and assist in transferring patients to recovery post-surgery. Promote safety, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement in OR operations. Collaborate effectively with surgeons, clinicians, and cross-functional teams to ensure exceptional patient care. Serve as a trusted resource and preceptor for colleagues, supporting ongoing learning and professional development. Completion of a formal surgical technician program offered by a community or junior college, vocational school, university, hospital or the military. 3 years of current Operating Room experience required. Advanced knowledge of at least 2 surgical specialists with 1 year experience in selected specialty desired. Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
