Job Summary: A non-licensed healthcare provider employed by Erlanger Health Systems is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients. The Women's Service Tech II (Surgical Technologist in Single Room Maternity Care) must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his or her assigned unit. The employee must be able to exercise judgment to recognize and identify signs and symptoms that require further evaluation by a licensed nurse. The employee must be able to effectively communicate with customers and team members, be flexible and adapt easily to change. The Women's Services Tech II (Surgical Technologist in Single Room Maternity Care) must be familiar with vaginal delivery, setup and assistance during delivery, obstetrical procedures, operative procedures, postoperative obstetrical care and phlebotomy. Education: Required: - High School education or equivalent. Preferred: - N/A Experience: Required: - N/A Preferred: - CNA experience, or Women's Services Experience. Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: - Must maintain certification as a surgical technologist from a national certifying body recognized by the health facilities commission; or obtains such certification no later than eighteen (18) months after completion of a surgical technology program. Or, have documented evidence of surgical technology training through the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard, or U.S. Public Health Service in lieu of certification; or qualify as recognized by the State of TN. - BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward Preferred: - CST (Certified Surgical Tech) - De-escalation training Department Position Summary: - The Women Services Tech must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his or her assigned unit.
