Purpose: To support the ASC Department in providing patient care by being responsible for the instruments in the operating room and supplying assistance. Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure 2. Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians’ preference cards 3. Inspects equipment for proper working condition 4. Follows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room procedures 5. Adheres to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for the procedure 6. Arranges instruments according to routine for given procedure 7. Confirms that instruments work properly. 8. Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays 9. Reports observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and takes action according to policy 10. Correctly utilizes, cares for, cleans and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment as directed 11. Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety 12. Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room for immediate access during procedure 13. Assists in work area by cleaning, storing, packaging and sterilizing instruments 14. Assists in storing and stocking of supplies as directed. 15. Maintains and updates instrument cards and surgeons’ preference cards 16. Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician 17. Documents patient care records and other forms according to facility policies and procedures 18. Accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about the patient’s status   Other Duties: As assigned by manager. Qualifications: Required: Surgical Technology Certification within 6 months of hire High school graduate or GED certification Surgical technician course completion Strong ethical and moral character references Preferred:  Associate degree in surgical technology Two years previous Operating Room experience ASC experience   ADA Physical Demands: Rarely (Less than .5 hrs/day)  Occasionally (0.6 – 2.5 hrs/day) Frequently (2.6 – 5.5 hrs/day) Continuously (5.6 – 8.0 hrs/day) Physical Demand Required?
