OPPORTUNITY

Pals Geomatics Corp. is looking for an ambitious individual who is seeking a Survey Assistant position in a growing Edmonton Land Surveying Company.
Reporting to the respective Department Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting the Party Chief in completing the fieldwork on various types of survey projects.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIREMENTS

  • On the job training will be provided. Experience is not necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • A valid class 5 driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract;
  • Experience in a similar position, in the home construction industry or familiarity with land surveying equipment
  • Safety Certificates CSTS, First Aid, WHMIS and Ground Disturbance
Responsibilities
  • Assist the crew lead with field survey work.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of distances in the metric system.
  • Operate and maintain various survey equipment including GPS, total station, setup of RTS / GNSS / Digital Level, etc.
  • Find and dig for evidence.
  • Perform Commercial RPRs, Grade Certificates., and Topographic Surveys.
  • Perform Subdivision and Condominium Surveys.
  • Perform Commercial and Industrial Construction surveys.
  • Workdays ranging from 8 to 12 hours.
  • Physically fit and able to perform tasks such as (but not limited to):
  • Lift loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Use a 12 lb sledgehammer.
  • Use a Hilti Breaker for up to 30 minutes at a time.
  • Dig holes using a shovel or a digging bar in varying weather conditions including ground, for depths of up to 1 metre.
  • Walk long distances carrying loads up to 20 lbs over varying terrain.
  • Place numerous spikes up to 12” long or 4’ lath using a hammer.
  • Maintain supplies and resources to ensure field availability.
  • Ensure proper use and care of survey equipment and vehicles. Complete weekly vehicle inspection sheets.
  • Work in accordance with the company Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Travel out of town within Alberta may be required occasionally.
