Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead our survey team in Salt Lake City conducting precise measurements and data collection for various projects. The Survey Crew Chief will be responsible for managing a team of survey technicians, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of field operations, and communicating effectively with project managers and clients.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in surveying techniques, methods, and equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and digital levels.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering accurate and reliable survey data.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and GIS applications for data processing and analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a Survey Crew Chief or Senior Survey Technician
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Professional surveyor licensure or certification (preferred)

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of survey technicians in conducting field surveys, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining high-quality work standards.
  • Interact with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, provide updates on survey progress, and address any concerns or issues that arise during the survey process.
  • Conduct field surveys using total stations, GPS equipment, and other surveying instruments to collect accurate measurements and data.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of survey equipment to ensure proper functioning and accuracy. Coordinate equipment repairs and replacements as needed.
  • Prepare detailed field notes, sketches, and reports documenting survey activities, observations, and findings.
  • Maintain accurate records of survey data, equipment inventory, and project documentation.
  • Implement quality control procedures, review survey data/reports for completeness, and accordance with project requirements.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior survey technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge in surveying techniques, equipment operation, and safety practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing surveying practices, including boundary surveys, construction staking, and land development projects.
