Louisiana Bridge Builders is an equal opportunity employer.   POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY  The Survey Helper is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by assisting survey crews in measuring and marking land boundaries, construction layouts, and other essential site elements.  LOCATION  This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.   PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  1. Assist in conducting land or building surveys by supporting surveyors with various field tasks. 2. Transport surveying instruments such as levels, total stations, GPS units, and Levels. 3. Hold equipment, including stadia rods, measuring tapes, or prisms at designated points to help measure distances, elevations, and angles accurately. 4. Mark distances and place stakes or survey markers according to surveyor instructions to delineate boundaries or project points. 5. Clear survey areas from vegetation or debris to ensure accurate measurements and equipment setup. 6. Maintain and care for surveying equipment.  7. Follow safety protocols and site instructions, working under the supervision of licensed surveyors or party chiefs to ensure accuracy and safety throughout fieldwork. 8. Collaborate and coordinate with survey teams, possibly assisting multiple surveyors and other crew members during projects. 9. Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, & SKILLS FOR SUCCESS  1. Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc. 2. Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change. 3. Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal. 4. Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches. 5. Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator. 6. Ability to work a flexible work schedule, additional and/or different hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed, to best serve the business operations.   7. Ability to maintain a current and valid driver’s license.
