JOB SUMMARY

Civil Design Consultants Inc. is seeking an experienced Survey Instrument Operator to support a field crew in delivering high-quality surveying services. You’ll work closely with the Crew Chief on a wide variety of projects, including construction layout, boundary and topographic surveys, deformation monitoring, and large-scale mapping.
This is a hands-on field role that requires technical skill, attention to detail, and physical stamina.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience operating survey instruments (total station, levels, GPS)
  • Intermediate knowledge of surveying terminology and procedures
  • Strong math and blueprint reading skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good physical condition — able to walk/hike 5+ miles per day, lift 20–50 lbs, and work in all weather
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Effective communicator and team player
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow professionally
Responsibilities
  • Operate total stations, automatic levels, and other survey equipment
  • Assist the Crew Chief with field calculations and daily project tasks
  • Maintain accurate and clear field notes
  • Load, unload, and organize all crew equipment and tools
  • Set stakes and grades for construction layout
  • Locate and/or set survey monuments using hand tools
  • Clear brush and obstructions for line-of-sight work
  • Maintain a clean and stocked survey truck
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and professional jobsite conduct
