Are you ready to take your surveying skills to the next level? Join a collaborative and forward-thinking team where precision, technology, and hands-on fieldwork come together. As a Survey Instrument Person, you’ll collect critical data using advanced tools like Robotic Total Stations and GPS systems to support a variety of exciting projects.
This is the perfect role for a self-motivated professional who enjoys being outdoors, solving real-world problems, and working in a team that values accuracy and growth. With 2–5 days per week in the field, you’ll gain valuable experience while developing your expertise in land surveying and field operations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO AS AN INSTRUMENT PERSON

  • Operate advanced surveying equipment including total stations, data collectors, levels, scanners, and GPS to support topographic, boundary, ALTA, construction stakeout, and utility surveys.
  • Prepare and clear survey lines by cutting brush, trees, or other obstructions using tools such as machetes, brush hooks, or chainsaws.
  • Read and interpret maps and plans to ensure accurate data collection and alignment with project specifications.
  • Complete accurate, well-organized field notes and sketches to document fieldwork clearly and professionally.
  • Maintain and care for surveying equipment—keep it clean, dry, and promptly report any damage or malfunction to the Party Chief.
  • Charge and manage all equipment batteries to ensure everything is ready for use each day.
  • Keep the survey vehicle stocked and clean, ensuring all necessary tools and supplies are available and the truck is swept and organized.
  • Maintain the equipment and supply room by keeping it clean, organized, and well-stocked with essential items like flagging, paint, caps, lath, and rebar.
  • Coordinate with other teams and service lines to support overall project goals and deadlines.
