Compass Consulting Surveyors is a land surveying and development consultancy with offices in Dubbo and Orange NSW. Our work is spread over the central and far west of the state. Our firm has a very diverse range of clients, projects and locations. Some of our jobs involve working in rural and remote areas of NSW.

We are looking for a Trainee Survey Technician to work with our growing team. The position is based in Dubbo, NSW and will be full-time. There is variety in the position, with some time in the office and some days in the field. The position involves

• assisting with survey fieldwork under the direction of senior field staff
• carrying equipment, setting up tripods and other kit
• using a hammer or sledgehammer to place pegs and other survey marks
• use of other hand tools (shovel, saw, chisel, crowbar)
• cleaning and maintaining survey equipment/vehicles/office
• computer drafting using AutoCAD
• some office administration tasks

Full training and all PPE will be provided. This position may involve support in future surveying-related studies for the right applicant.
The ideal candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic with a practical outlook, strong work ethic and attention to detail. You must work well in a small team, have a love of the outdoors and enjoy new challenges. An understanding of farm etiquette (shutting gates, climbing fences safely, livestock awareness) is desirable.
