Responsibilities

THE ROLE.

GMC Utilities Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surveyor. The Surveyor will be responsible for conducting pre-condition and post-condition surveys of properties and public areas before and after construction works. This role involves assessing reinstatement areas, verifying surface conditions, and ensuring accurate documentation for payment submissions and road opening license (ROL) closures. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the efficiency of our reinstatement processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct pre-condition surveys of private properties before construction works commence, documenting any existing conditions.
  • Perform pre-condition surveys of public areas, including roads, footpaths, and other infrastructure, to assess their state before works begin
  • Survey locations before reinstatement works to confirm the condition of existing surfaces, surface materials, and footprint requirements for reinstatement.
  • Conduct post-reinstatement surveys to verify completed works, ensuring accuracy for payment submissions and compliance for road opening license (ROL) closures.
  • Investigate and document historic locations where information may be missing (e.g., photographs, measurements) to support the closure of historic ROLs.
  • Survey and document snags from ROL rejections, assisting in resolving outstanding issues.
  • Maintain accurate records, including photographic and written reports, to support project documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in all surveying activities.
