Description

The Surveyor is a vital position for MacKay Contracting Ltd. to provide construction layout, quantity and as-built survey, quality control and other general survey duties.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Two (2) years proven Surveyor experience with a general contracting business is preferred
  • In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
  • Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada
  • Position requires a high level of initiative and a positive attitude
  • Must be able to give and follow both oral and written instructions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in computers, and Microsoft systems including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Flexibility to work overtime and/or weekend shifts, as needed
  • Ability and willingness to travel; the successful candidate must be able to travel and work at multiple locations
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean Driver’s Abstract

Responsibilities
  • Sets up and operates Topcon survey and GPS equipment; directs and conducts a broad range of field surveys for construction purposes
  • Accurately calculates heights, depths, positions, property lines, and other characteristics of worksite terrain
  • Prepares accurate field data, notes, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys for construction purposes
  • Verifies quality and accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations, coordinates findings with construction site management
  • Accurately reads, interprets, and analyzes engineering drawings; produces accurate as-built drawings
  • Sets elevations and grades for roads, utilities construction, and concrete works
  • Prepares and maintains maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe work performed
  • Cleans adjusts and maintains surveying instruments to maintain accuracy
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Daily submission of daily timecards
  • Daily submission of labour equipment materials report
  • Additional duties as may be assigned
