Our Waihi Operation in the North Island of New Zealand is an underground operation. A recent consent to develop the previous Martha mine has provided our project with an extension of life providing our 350 staff and contractors, and the people of Waihi, an assurance that we plan to be here for the long-term. The WKP Project also received approval via the government's fast track process at the end of 2025. This will see the development of the Wharekirauponga Underground Mine, situated 6km north of the existing minesite.Job DescriptionThis is a unique opportunity for an experienced Underground Mine Surveyor to play a key role in the develolpment of the new Wharekirauponga Underground Mine. This Mon-Friday position is reponsible for providing survey services to ensure daily operational requirements are met, whilst providing support with the wider technical team.Key Tasks and ResponsibilitiesInstall and maintain laser alignment systems for development.Issue mining instructions for the jumbo operators.Complete regular survey pickups of the constructed underground workings.Conduct regular set-out tasks and markups.Maintain and extend survey control points ensuring the highest possible accuracy for the mine.Conduct technical inspections in conjunction with other technical disciplines.Ensure all required survey records and datasets are maintained and kept updated.Provide regular information, reports and survey data to other departments and operations.Assist the technical services department with data collection, evaluation and reporting.Assist the Underground Manager with data collection, evaluation and reporting on contractor development performance.Maintaining the highest standards of safety across all activities.QualificationsTertiary Qualification in Surveying or Demonstrated Surveying ExperienceFull and Current Driver Licence, with ability to drive Manual Vehicles.Previous survey experience in an underground mine.Experience with surveying software, Deswik and Surpac preferred.Additional InformationWHAT'S ON OFFER:Residential role - live and work in Waihi, the gateway to the stunning Coromandel regionCareer Development Opportunities Competitive salary + short-term and long-term bonusMonday to Friday, dayshift only roster.Discounts on retail and servicesFree Southern Cross HealthcareFree Gym Membership BP Fuel card discountCareer Development Opportunities Long service recognitionLiving Our Values recognition programAccess to OceanaGold Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Exceptional working environment where people are valued and respected YOU MATTER: OceanaGold is committed to providing equal employment opportunities.
