Children’s Advocacy Center of Illinois (CACI), in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Human Services, is seeking to engage and hire up to seven (7) survivor leaders to consult on a Survivor Leader Advisory Board. The purpose of this board is to help guide statewide efforts and outcomes on a federally-funded human trafficking project. Candidates for this position will be expected to assist with the following tasks in consultancy with a variety of state agencies, non-profits, and other relevant stakeholders:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This contract position requires that you have:
Lived Experience as a survivor of human trafficking as a child /youth, or other relevant lived experience, such as system-involvement as a child / youth in the United States
AND four years of relevant professional experience, OR a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Human/Social Services, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
*Candidates who don’t meet either of these requirements can still apply with a combination of relevant professional experience and education, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and conflict resolution
  • High work and personal ethics and integrity, including the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders in situations that may be politically sensitive
  • Experience or training in trauma-responsive care with minors and/or youth
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience leading or working within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) - does not have to be specific to human trafficking
  • Experience around developing policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Familiarity with research methods and data analysis
  • Experience working with a government agency or non-profit
Responsibilities
  • Up to 8 hours of work monthly.
  • Provide consultancy on project work for one year, to conclude on June 30, 2026.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings of the Survivor Leader Advisory Board and other project-related meetings as needed.
  • Help develop statewide strategic plan and ensure the strategies implemented are survivor centered.
  • Collaborate with grant members and community partners on the identification and development of content related to trainings, screening tools, protocols, and outreach / awareness materials.
    The Statewide Human Trafficking Coordinator, housed within CACI, will provide oversight, coordination, and support for the Survivor Leader Advisory Board.
