POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sushi Chef is responsible for preparing sushi and other menu items according to standards, ensuring consistency, freshness, and visual appeal. This role requires strong knife skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience as a sushi chef or in Japanese cuisine is preferred
  • Strong knife skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques
  • Ability to work quickly without compromising quality
  • High attention to detail and a passion for food presentation
  • Ability to follow recipes and standardized procedures
  • Team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills
  • Food handler’s certification is an asset
Responsibilities
  • Prepare all types of sushi including maki, nigiri, and specialty rolls following standardized recipes
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift
  • Follow portion control and presentation guidelines to maintain consistency
  • Assist in receiving and rotating inventory to minimize waste
  • Adhere to hygiene and sanitation standards at all times
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Occasionally support customer interactions when needed, providing a friendly and informative experience
