JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Sushi Chef to join our brand new location. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. Training is available as well if you have an interest in learning!
As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant’s standards while ensuring an exceptional dining experience and interaction for our guests.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a fine dining restaurant or sushi establishment. Training available for someone who wants to learn.
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on Japanese cuisine, including knife skills and meal preparation.
  • Experience in menu planning and food service within the food industry is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and present sushi dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to traditional Japanese techniques.
  • Manage the sushi bar area, ensuring cleanliness and organization at all times.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to plan menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and innovative sushi options.
  • Maintain food safety standards in accordance with health regulations, including proper food handling and storage practices.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality, sourcing supplies as needed.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
  • Assist in catering events by preparing sushi platters and other menu items as required.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and continuously seek to improve culinary skills.
