We are seeking a Sushi Cook to join our culinary team, and work alongside our Sushi Chef. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Japanese cuisine, basic sushi knowledge, and a strong desire, and willingness to learn. This position is responsible for preparing traditional and modern sushi, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and presentation, and contributing to an outstanding dining experience. Responsibilities Prepare a variety of sushi, including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty items, with precision and artistry. Ensure freshness and quality of all fish, seafood, rice, and other ingredients. Work with Executive Chef/Executive Sous Chef to create a fresh, enticing menu that changes regularly for members. Maintain clean and organized workstations in compliance with health and safety regulations. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop seasonal and specialty sushi menus. Engage with guests when appropriate, explaining dishes and accommodating special requests. Manage inventory levels, monitor product rotation, and minimize waste. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation and knife techniques. Uphold consistent portion sizes and presentation standards. Requirements Proven experience as a Sushi Cook or similar role in a high-volume or fine dining environment. Basic knowledge of traditional and modern sushi preparation, rice techniques, and knife skills. Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and handling raw fish. Creative approach to menu development and presentation. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Food safety certificate preferred in VA. Willingness to learn and grow. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Manual dexterity for knife work and delicate preparations. Hours Wednesday-Sunday, 2-10pm Pay Rate: $21.00- $24.00 per hour
