Job Title: Sushi Shift Supervisor

Reports To: Sushi Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to performing all required duties of a Sushi Clerk, the Sushi Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities the Sushi department staff will perform. Responsibilities include; but are not limited to, planning, assigning, and directing work; staff development, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Sushi Shift Supervisor will assist in overseeing the selling of all related items at the Sushi counter. They are also responsible for carrying out the duties listed below (other duties may be assigned)

Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities by company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with the training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Customer Service Skills
Sushi Shift Supervisors are expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. Sushi Shift Supervisors are expected to have a positive “can-do” attitude; to treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees of the company.
Knowledge Of English
This is a customer service-driven position. The candidate must have the ability to communicate in English.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to resolve conflicts in such a manner to create a win-win situation. Ability to analyze a variety of situations, think through a solution, and implement the solution.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the Sushi Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Sushi Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Sushi Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Sushi Clerk must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
This position may require to use of the following tools and equipment: box knife, baler, scanner, hand truck, POS, conveyer belt, industrial kitchen equipment (i.e. blast chiller, grill, knives/blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.), basic housekeeping / janitorial and standard office equipment.
Work Environment
Work occurs in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise levels, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures. There may be exposure to certain allergens and/or chemicals.
