DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for friendly, motivated candidates with excellent communication skills and great work ethic. We are looking for an ambitious Sushi Roller to assist in the preparation and execution of delicious meals on our sushi line. As long as they are willing to learn we are willing to teach anything from the basics to advanced techniques of rolling and the presentation of sushi. They’ll perform routine tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to our recipes. A great Sushi Chef will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. They should be able to handle a knife with care and ease so ingredients are consistently cut uniformly. They should know how to use all necessary equipment involved in prepping and rolling sushi. They should be deft and able to follow instructions as well as follow all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment and be able to communicate as part of a team.

SKILLS (CAN BE TAUGHT TO QUALIFIED APPLICANTS)

  • Proven experience in rolling sushi and prepping fresh fish
  • Knowledge of health and safety guidelines in a kitchen
  • Manual dexterity: able to operate cutting tools, kitchen utensils and equipment
  • A team player with good communication skills
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
  • Knowledge of fish, sauces, and proper handling of raw and cooked seafood
  • Very good physical condition and endurance to be able to stand for hours at a time.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Training from a culinary school would be highly desirable but not necessary.
    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
    Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Follow the prep list created by head sushi chef
  • Make items as they come in for dine-in and to go orders
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking so all recipes are followed.
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping, cutting, or sorting various ingredients.
  • Prepare other dishes such as salad, sashimi, nigiri, and other starters.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly station by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
  • Checking equipment to ensure its properly working and that all temps are within safety guidelines
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
