DESCRIPTION
St Joseph is Berkeley’s newest brand, created to bring our passion for quality, place making and building communities to Birmingham and the West Midlands.
In this role, you will provide value to the business and insight on sustainability issues for St Joseph division, with a focus on ensuring the division meets Berkeley Group Sustainability Strategy and Standards. Key to this role is the ability to liaise with different teams across the business including Construction, Technical and Land and Planning teams. This will include setting out approaches to meet the divisional and group targets; helping to deliver work streams; and monitoring, reporting and communicating local performance.
Due to the multi-phase nature of St Joseph divisional projects means that there will be opportunity to get involved in strategic sustainability initiatives and delivery of sustainability related targets under Our Vision 2030 as well as overseeing the day to day environmental issues.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Travel Required to visit sites in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, current sites are located in Wallingford, Milton Keynes and Birmingham. *
Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Advisor will be a key point of contact for the St Joseph business, whilst also working alongside other members of the team to meet local aspirations and deliver the Berkeley Group corporate sustainability strategy across St Joseph. They will also benefit from frequent contact with a wider network of Sustainability Advisors and Managers across the Group.
The role will be varied, focusing not only on environmental issues, but also the social and economic impacts of development activities. The Sustainability Advisor will be expected to work across multiple departments and support project teams in complying with environmental regulations and Berkeley’s development and construction standards, as well as meeting the targets set out in Berkeley Group’s Sustainability Strategy.
Each working week will likely be different, but key tasks may include: conducting site visits to manage risk and check that operations are carried out in line with environmental best practice; collating electricity meter readings and fuel tickets for company reporting; working with the project team to identify and implement innovations to reduce waste generation; and running a training session with the Sales and Marketing Team to increase awareness of sustainability design features.
