SUSTAINABILITY & ESG EXECUTIVE / ESG EXECUTIVE

CROYDON —HYBRID | 2 DAYS OFFICE, 3 DAYS HOME

GREAT SALARY PLUS BENEFITS

Sustainability & ESG Executive job in Croydon within the travel industry, offering a great salary plus benefits. This is a hands-on ESG role covering carbon reporting, sustainability strategy and stakeholder engagement across a well-established, purpose-driven travel business.

▌ Do you?

Do you enjoy turning data into action — building a carbon calculation one day and briefing senior stakeholders the next?

Are you confident owning ESG reporting and sustainability strategy, from data collection through to board-level output?

Do you thrive working across departments — Product, Marketing, Operations and supply chain — without needing formal authority to get things done?

And are you someone who takes ownership and initiative, but knows when to bring in your manager on judgement calls?

▌ Our Customer

Our client is a well-established name in the travel industry, known for the quality of the holidays they design and the standard of service they deliver. Sustainability and responsible travel are genuine priorities for them — they see it as one of the strongest levers they have for protecting the destinations they operate in and building long-term trust with their customers.

They are now seeking a Sustainability & ESG Executive to take ownership of day-to-day ESG reporting and carbon accounting, and to play a key role in shaping how the business delivers its sustainability strategy for the long term.

▌ The Role

In this role, you will be the operational engine of the sustainability strategy, turning data and reporting into clear action across the business.

  • Own and maintain the ESG dashboard, keeping carbon emissions data accurate and audit-ready
  • Lead the annual collation and submission of ESG data to meet reporting deadlines
  • Calculate and report Scope 1 and 2 emissions, laying the groundwork for Scope 3
  • Track progress against sustainability KPIs, flagging risks and opportunities
  • Coordinate and help chair quarterly sustainability governance meetings
  • Lead production of the annual Impact Report, drawing on input from across the business
  • Produce board-ready reporting packs and updates for senior stakeholders
  • Work with suppliers to embed sustainable practice and improve emissions data
  • Head up the internal sustainability volunteer team, coordinating activity and campaigns
  • Monitor emerging ESG regulation and frameworks relevant to travel, advising on implications

▌ Experience Required

  • Experience in a sustainability, ESG or responsible business role
  • Demonstrable understanding of ESG frameworks and practical carbon accounting
  • Experience producing data for external stakeholders to defined deadlines and evidencing standards
  • Experience contributing to sustainability or impact reports, or board-level materials
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and confidence working with complex data sets
  • Excellent written communication — able to write with equal credibility for a board pack and a customer-facing page
  • Confident working with initiative across departments, without formal authority over stakeholders

▌ Benefits

  • Hybrid working — 2 days in the Croydon office, 3 days from home
  • Great salary plus benefits
  • Discounted holidays for you and your family, plus extra annual leave when travelling on a company tour
  • Workplace pension with employer contributions
  • Two paid charity days a year, on top of annual leave
  • Business travel insurance, including personal accident and illness cover
  • Access to a mental health first aider network
  • Cycle to work scheme and eyecare cost contributions
  • Long-service and performance-related bonuses, plus shopping discounts and a cashback platform
  • Interest-free season ticket loan for commuting costs
  • Occasional UK and overseas travel to see tours and supplier operations
  • The opportunity to shape the direction of an established sustainability function
  • Genuine autonomy — a hands-on role with real ownership, not just support
  • Working for a well-established, purpose-driven business in the travel industry
