About SSG The Sustainable Solutions Group (SSG) serves as ING Wholesale Banking’s central sustainability engine. We are looking for a SSG Sustainability Expertise & Implementation (SSG E&I) Specialist to join the newly established SSG E&I Team! Role Overview We are looking for a Sustainability Expertise & Implementation Specialist to join the newly established SSG E&I Team. While the team is in its early stages and currently small, it forms an integral part of the broader SSG organisation. This role reports directly to the Head of SSG Expertise & Implementation, you will provide strategic, operational, and coordination support to help ensure the successful development and delivery of the SSG mission. Key responsibilities include: Support strategy and sharpening focus: translating strategic ambitions into clear priorities, structuring efforts, and ensuring alignment with ING’s long-term sustainability goals Stay close to the business: connecting with sector developments, sustainable deal teams, and client needs to ensure the SSG strategic themes, Client Climate Engagement, Terra, and Financing the Transition, remain grounded in real-world relevance Coordinate what matters: managing incoming requests including regulatory disclosures, external commitments, internal business needs, and innovation opportunities, ensuring timely and consistent responses Build tools that enable: developing reusable templates, short-form video formats, and dashboards that make sustainability easier to understand and apply across the organisation Connect and enable: working across Wholesale Banking, Global Sustainability, ESG Risk, Finance, Tech, Legal, and various Tribes to streamline efforts and support cross-team collaboration Challenge and improve: refining ideas, pressure-testing approaches, and helping shape the future of SSG Turn insight into impact: supporting the development of the SSG KPI Dashboard, integrating internal data sources and external intelligence to generate insights that guide strategic steering and client engagement Your profile You are a structured problem-solver with a strong sense of purpose. You combine a strategic mindset with the ability to execute, and you navigate complexity in a pragmatic and collaborative way. You thrive in a high-paced environment and dealing with a wide range of topics and stakeholders. You anticipate rather than react. You proactively connect insights across teams and data, keeping focus on what matters. You confidently challenge and refine ideas to deliver on ING’s sustainability goals, and you seek digital and AI solutions to scale our impact. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Environmental Studies, or related 6–8 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, strategy, or transformation within financial services Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across functions and drive alignment A sharp analytical mindset, with fluency in data interpretation, dashboarding, and performance tracking Clear and compelling communication skills, able to distill complex topics and engage diverse audiences A collaborative and pragmatic approach, with cross-functional agility and confidence to challenge constructively, but with the ability to work independently, take ownership, and influence across teams A proactive attitude: you anticipate, connect, and clarify, helping ING focus on what matters most Why ING?
